It is possible to import repeating data or repeated measure data, considering the following:
- The import file must contain the following columns: Participant ID, custom name, and parent visit (if any).
- It is only possible to import data into fields where variable names are defined. Data will not be imported into fields that contain only labels and where the variable name is not defined.
- Make sure the custom names are unique for every repeating data point within a given participant, including the archived ones.
- If you are importing data into existing repeating data records, make sure that they are unlocked, as it is only possible to import data if a repeating data report or a repeating data form is not locked.
- If you are importing data into an existing repeating data for a participant and the repeating data is built without the option "Allow manual editing of generated name" a new instance will be created upon import. The data will NOT overwrite the existing repeating data instance.
- You cannot create new participant records while importing repeating data (unlike with importing study data), so the participants have to exist first before importing.
When you choose the import type "repeating data import" you need to map the columns in your file to the relevant elements:
- Browse to select the CSV file you want to import.
- Make sure you have set this to repeating data to see the following dropdowns.
- Define the column from your CSV file that contains the participant ID.
- Define the column from your CSV file that contains the custom name of the repeating data.
- Define the column from your CSV file that contains the visit or custom repeating data name that the repeating data report is attached to (if that is the case). If the repeating data is not attached to a visit or repeating data report, you can leave this column empty and still select it upon importing.
- Click on "Import" to upload the data into your CRF.
Example of a repeating data import file:
First create an export of your data in Excel and select the repeating data or repeated measure to export (even if you don't have any data currently) - this will create the columns that you need to fill in and you can simply add your data there. The only column that you don't need to fill in is the 'creation date' column as this is automatically created with the creation of the repeating data.
