Castor is formally releasing its new web surveys view in Castor CDMS 2023.4.
A big change as part of that release is the introduction of a new, more flexible slider field. For users of our older slider fields, many of the options available will be familiar, with some additional, more granular options to give you more control over how sliders are presented to your participants.

Will these sliders be available for all studies?
The new sliders will become available for users of the modern web surveys experience as of release 2023.4 of Castor CDMS. We intend to make this slider the default for all forms on an ongoing basis as we continue to update the remaining form types in the platform (study visits, repeating data) in future releases. Initially, the new slider will only be available for users of the modern web surveys.
What happens to my existing sliders?
If you are working on an existing study and have not migrated to the new web surveys experience - nothing! New sliders are only visible/configurable in modern web surveys.
Will my existing sliders still work if I migrate my study to the new web surveys experience?
Yes! Existing sliders will be updated to the new configuration when you migrate. For instance, if you had a slider with ticks and bounds of 0-100 pre-configured in an existing study - that slider would be transformed into its equivalent in the new slider with major ticks and bounds of 0 and 100. Consistent with our recommendations for migrating to the new surveys more generally, we recommend that users check their slider configuration for consistency and presentation to users.
