Castor CDMS supports data collection on mobile and tablet devices. With Castor's modern data entry interface, the platform's responsive design and accessibility on touchscreens have been significantly improved.

For Clinicians and Study Staff (EDC Data Entry)
If study staff are entering clinical data at the bedside or moving around the clinic using a tablet, keep the following tips in mind:
- Optimized UI: Castor’s standard data entry view features optimized UI components (like date pickers, checkboxes, and radio buttons) that are designed to scale smoothly for touchscreen interactions.

Device Orientation:
- Viewing Data: Landscape mode will generally deliver a better experience, as the screen ratio closely reflects a computer desktop.
- Entering Data: When typing, the on-screen keyboard takes up a large portion of the screen in landscape mode. We recommend switching to portrait mode for extensive text entry.
- Zoom and Accessibility: Use Safari or Chrome accessibility tools to increase the standard font size in your browser. You can also use the native double-tap zoom to focus on specific sections of the form.
- Stylus Use: While the interface improves the size of interactive elements, using a stylus or pen tablet can still improve accuracy for smaller devices and interactions that require double-touching.
For Study Participants (In-Clinic Surveys)
If you are handing a tablet to a participant in the clinic to complete questionnaires:
- Use On-Site ePRO: Do not use the standard CDMS data entry view. Instead, use Castor's On-Site ePRO feature. This interface is explicitly designed and optimized for mobile and tablet touchscreens, providing a secure, participant-friendly experience.
