Castor is transitioning all users to a new single login system called Castor Identity, replacing the existing CDMS login. This change enhances security and simplifies access by allowing one set of credentials for all Castor products and data regions. Users will be migrated gradually by study, with no changes to study data, only login methods. Those using single-region CDMS will see minor login screen changes, multi-region users can use one account across regions, and users of both CDMS and eConsent will use their eConsent password with required 2FA. SSO users are unaffected.
We're improving how you log in to Castor. Instead of using the existing CDMS login system, all users will now sign in through Castor Identity.
This change makes logging in both more secure and simpler to manage. You'll be able to use a single pair of credentials to access all Castor products and data regions - no more juggling multiple accounts or passwords.
Users will be migrated gradually, on a study-by-study basis. We'll reach out to the main contacts of studies that will be migrated soon.
What is going to change (and why)
One login for all Castor products
You'll use the same email and password to access all your studies, no matter which data region or Castor product you need.
Easier switching
Moving between data regions or products will be smoother, without the need to remember separate logins.
Better security
Your account is protected using our updated, industry-standard login system.
We're making this change to give you a more consistent and secure experience across Castor. Nothing about your studies or data is changing - only the way you log in.
What this means for you
You can use the table below to quickly check what this change means for you, based on how you use Castor.
| You: | What this means for you: |
| You only use Castor CDMS with a study or studies in a single data region | There are no functional changes for you - only small visual differences in the login screen. |
| You use Castor CDMS with studies in multiple data regions |
You'll be able to use the same Castor account to access all your regions. If you've set up an authenticator app (2FA) in both regions, you can use either to log in. |
| You use both Castor CDMS and Castor eConsent | You'll be able to access all Castor products and all data regions with your eConsent password. If you've set up 2FA with an authenticator app on your Castor CDMS account, using 2FA will now become required for logging in to both eConsent and CDMS. |
| You use your company account (SSO) to log in to Castor | Nothing changes for you! The Castor Identity migration only affects users who log in with a Castor account. |
| You work on studies on a private instance | Private instances will not be moved to Castor Identity in the short term, so nothing changes for you. When we do migrate private instances in the future, we will send out appropriate communication first. |
Note: 2FA will not be an enforced requirement, if you are an existing CDMS user and were not using 2FA before the migration, you will not be forced to use 2FA after. There will be an option to configure it following the migration though.
