New page routing
With the CDMS v2024.2.0.0.0 update, we will be upgrading our page routing system to use a modern framework.
Page routing is essential to allow proper navigation to all pages and subpages of an application. As part of the next major release, we will be replacing the old routing system in data entry and on the participants overview.
Immediate, out of the box benefits of this change include improvements on performance, especially regarding loading time of pages and using the browser’s standard back and forward buttons to navigate the pages of the system.
The new routing also ensures the required technical feasibility for a range of potential future product updates such as browsing through participants in data entry view, opening children repeating data instances and allowing the user to return back to the parent view, saving and sharing URLs or deep links between CDSM and external systems.
A summary of URLs that will be replaced can be consulted below:
Area / page | Deprecated URLs | New URLs |
Global participants overview | /studies/#studyID/records | /studies/#studyID/participants |
Participant: Visits | /studies/#manage_#studyID|tab_records|record_#participantID | /studies/#studyID/participants/#participantID/visits |
Participant: Repeating data | /studies/#manage_#studyID|tab_records|record_#participantID | /studies/#studyID/participants/#participantID/visits |
Participant: Surveys | /studies/#manage_#studyID|tab_records|record_#participantID | /studies/#studyID/participants/#participantID/visits |
Participant: Monitoring | /studies/#manage_#studyID|tab_records|record_#participantID | /studies/#studyID/participants/#participantID/visits |
Participant: Repeating data after redirect from global overview | /studies/#manage_#studyID|tab_records_records|det_report|instance_#instanceID|step_#formID|record_#participantID | /studies/#studyID/participants/#participantID/repeating-data/#instanceID/#formID |
Important notes
These changes will have no functional impact of the system requirements, but could impact
- Previously bookmarked pages that rely on soon to be deprecated URLs
- External integrations that have been / are planned to be configured using the internal CDMS URL such as /studies/#manage_#studyID|tab_records|record_#participantID
We recommend reviewing and updating all of these following the rollout of v2024.2.0.0, so that you experience no disruptions in your workflow.
The Castor team is currently assessing solutions to provide an auto-redirect of some key old URLs to the new ones, to further support a smooth transition for all of our users and running studies.
More information will be included in this article as we approach the release date of Castor CDMS v2024.2.0.0.0. This major upgrade is tentatively scheduled to be released in mid-late June 2024.
