The Upload file field allows users and survey participants to upload up to 5 MB.
It is possible to upload larger files (up to 2GB per file) by purchasing the Large File Upload feature for your study.
All file types are accepted, except executable files and SVG image files.
Please note that at the moment, it is only possible to upload one file at a time.
Here is an example of the 'Upload file' field, shown in a study form:
Once a file has been added to the field, a download button is shown below the file, with which the uploaded file can be downloaded.
For image files and PDFs, there is also the option to view the file without downloading:
If the uploaded file needs to be removed or changed:
- Use the 3-dot menu
- Select Delete upload to remove the file. Please note: If you delete or replace a file after the form or survey has already been saved, the system will prompt you to enter a 'Reason for change' for the audit trail before allowing you to upload the new file if the Confirm data updates option is enabled in the Study settings.
Once cleared, you can add a new file.

- It is possible to download files with View permissions only.

You can perform a bulk export of all files by going to the Export tab and selecting 'Uploaded files (to zip-file)'. This will generate a ZIP file where each upload field has its own separate folder containing the uploaded files.
