Data standardization
In the Data standardization tab of a specific field you can add metadata which is additional information about other data, generally a dataset.
Here is how it works and what it is used for:
- Domains: Within the field Data Standardization tab, you can select which data domain the field belongs to (e.g., Demographics, Vital Signs, Adverse Events). The domains you select from in this tab are managed at the study level. You must first set up your domains by navigating to Study Design → Data standardization. Once created there, they become available to select inside the field modal: Data standardization
-
Annotations: You can add your annotation values and descriptions here. This is often used for things like marking date fields with specific CDASH annotations (e.g.,
'VISDAT'or'VISENDAT') which are required if you are importing EHR data via Castor's FHIR importer. Annotations are only exported as part of your Study Structure XML file: Exporting full study structure and data before applying changes in CDMS
Advanced Tab
You can exclude the field data from all your data exports by setting this option to Yes in the Advanced tab of a field. In this case it will never get exported, irrespective of who is doing the export.
The setting is by default to 'No'.
The Advanced tab will also allow you to encrypt a field if you are using the encryption module in your study.
