Can I access the EDC/CDMS system from anywhere? What internet browsers do you support?

Castor EDC/CDMS is a web-based application that can be accessed from anywhere using your Castor login credentials. For the best experience, we recommend using the latest browser versions. It is important to use an up-to-date browser to ensure compatibility with platform features and to benefit from the latest security updates.

 

Supported Web Browsers

In line with our commitment to a secure and seamless experience, Castor supports the following browsers:

 

Participant-Facing Functionality

  • Chromium-Based Browsers
    • Google Chrome: Latest 12 major versions
    • Microsoft Edge: Latest 12 major versions
    • Samsung Internet Browser: Current major version

Note: While users may access the system via other Chromium-based browsers, performance and security are not guaranteed.

  • Non-Chromium-Based Browsers
    • Safari (iOS, iPadOS, macOS – WebKit-based): Current and previous major version
    • Firefox (Gecko-based): Latest 12 major versions (desktop only)

Note: Users may access the system using Firefox on mobile, but performance and security are not guaranteed.

 

Clinician-Facing Functionality

  • Chromium-Based Browsers
    • Google Chrome: Latest 12 major versions
    • Microsoft Edge: Latest 12 major versions
       
  • Non-Chromium-Based Browsers
    • Firefox: Latest 12 major versions
    • Safari (iOS, iPadOS, macOS): Current and previous major version

Note: A detailed list of validated browser versions is included in the release notes of each major product update, accessible at helpdesk.castoredc.com.
New browser versions are assumed to be forward-compatible.
Clinician-facing views do not require mobile support, although some pages are optimized for tablet/mobile usage.

 

Unsupported Browsers

As per Castor's Browser and Operating System Policy, for any browsers and/or OS not listed in this policy, Castor will prevent access to the system. Users will receive a message instructing them to switch to a supported browser or OS.

 

Security Protocols

In August 2018, Castor removed support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 encryption protocols (with Castor release 2018.6). Since this update, users on older browsers may find that certain functions appear broken due to incompatible encryption support.
